Today is...

...Comic Book day! Today is the day we get the first prints of the book 'Tales of the Spiffing,' that I contributed to, delivered to work! We are sat clock watching and willing it to suddenly skip to 3pm when we can finally hold them! mmmm new book smell.
This is a sneaky peaky at my 2 page spread featuring my favourite thing on earth... hot girls with swords...
So buy it, bitches!

This took me a little longer than an hour... as I could not decide what I wanted the finished image to look like..! Have you ever done that? Just set off without a plan? It's happening a lot lately...
I don't know how I feel about the finished piece, or whether it is finished rather.

I am really enjoying Illustration Friday though!

This is a blog header I thought I'd draw for my friends cake blog! Hope she likes it :)

Another painting I am too lazy to finish!

It is based on a Japanese urban legend called Kuchisake-onna. I want to make a comic dedicated to urban legends and this was intended to be a front cover. Again, running before I can walk! It's completely unfinished - the nose needs painting among other things (the tap makes me cringe!)

Amigurumi

I have been learning to crochet recently and have become a bit mad on amigurumi - little crocheted teddy bears that are super popular in Japan. I want to make all sorts but getting a foundation teddy nailed is a good way to start! Onto little zombie teddy bears next! I have already had 4 people ask if I will make them one - and this particular pink and blue bear is a gift for a colleague!

..looking through older posts and realising just how little work I've actually ever finished. Feeling a lot meh about all of it aswell!
And considering how much I've taken on lately this only hinders my motivation!
I need the excitement back...

Also... when did this turn into 'dani posts sporadic sketches' blog? I'm an animator damnit! It was supposed to be encouraging me to do more personal work in the field that a love most of all!

*moans* I think I've got grass is greener syndrome.

Skull thing

Just a favour I did for a friend that ended up not getting used! I like the pen work on the skull.. not so mad keen on the dudes face. I might redo this but ALL skull. Since when is a face important? :D

Lately, when I have been sitting down to watch Alias (6 million years after everyone else) I have been absent mindedly drawing environments - specifically buildings and streets. Odd that. My sketchbook is full of them! Here is one... probably the best one... you can clicky for a biggy.

Medusa

I am deciding whether to go acrylic on her ass or paint her in photoshop... Both? These are just scans from my sketchbook laid side by side so I can figure out how she looks from various angles... brainstorming if you will.
She is covered in scars from snakebites and her skin will be dead from venom. I like that the snakes are in a sort of 'mohican' that trail down her spine...
