Illustration Friday : Sneaky

Sneaky mouse!!
This took me a little longer than an hour... as I could not decide what I wanted the finished image to look like..! Have you ever done that? Just set off without a plan? It's happening a lot lately...
I don't know how I feel about the finished piece, or whether it is finished rather.

I am really enjoying Illustration Friday though!

Illustration Friday : Burning

This is my first illustration Friday too! Day of firsts today eh?

This image took me about an hour to sketch, scan and colour! Lovely fun!
Stick around and have a look at the rest of my blog if you like :)

Blog Header

This is a blog header I thought I'd draw for my friends cake blog! Hope she likes it :)

Another painting I am too lazy to finish!

It is based on a Japanese urban legend called Kuchisake-onna. I want to make a comic dedicated to urban legends and this was intended to be a front cover. Again, running before I can walk! It's completely unfinished - the nose needs painting among other things (the tap makes me cringe!)

I have been learning to crochet recently and have become a bit mad on amigurumi - little crocheted teddy bears that are super popular in Japan. I want to make all sorts but getting a foundation teddy nailed is a good way to start! Onto little zombie teddy bears next! I have already had 4 people ask if I will make them one - and this particular pink and blue bear is a gift for a colleague!

Skinny Snake

'Scuse the shoddy iPhone photo. Just playing with some new pens I treated myself too. I hate his face. Must get good at faces!!

I hate...

..looking through older posts and realising just how little work I've actually ever finished. Feeling a lot meh about all of it aswell!
And considering how much I've taken on lately this only hinders my motivation!
I need the excitement back...

Also... when did this turn into 'dani posts sporadic sketches' blog? I'm an animator damnit! It was supposed to be encouraging me to do more personal work in the field that a love most of all!

*moans* I think I've got grass is greener syndrome.

Skull thing

Just a favour I did for a friend that ended up not getting used! I like the pen work on the skull.. not so mad keen on the dudes face. I might redo this but ALL skull. Since when is a face important? :D

New sketchbook!

Virgin page = virgin zombie. Am I right or am I right!? Scan from sketchbook not too hot.. I'm gunna paint this one though!

more doodles

must update as and when. avoid doodle dump.

pencilly anime lady.

crayony moody kid.

crayony moody gurl.

latest doodles

Lately, when I have been sitting down to watch Alias (6 million years after everyone else) I have been absent mindedly drawing environments - specifically buildings and streets. Odd that. My sketchbook is full of them! Here is one... probably the best one... you can clicky for a biggy.

latest doodles

The top one is a bad quality photo of my sketchbook as it's on A3. M'apologies! I have kick ass ladies on the brain... as usual.

Because I think she's cooool!

I am deciding whether to go acrylic on her ass or paint her in photoshop... Both? These are just scans from my sketchbook laid side by side so I can figure out how she looks from various angles... brainstorming if you will.
She is covered in scars from snakebites and her skin will be dead from venom. I like that the snakes are in a sort of 'mohican' that trail down her spine...

Animation Showreel

*Contains adult and offensive language* :p

Finished! (?)

How do you know when you're finished!?

A bit of modelling... progression II

Her hair, which is fimo not plasticine, was fun!

Nearly there...

A bit of modelling... progression

I forgot to take earlier photos of the frog - this was the earliest photo I had. I like to take a million photos of projects I do (like saving layers almost?) I like looking back for some reason :p

Her raincoat was hard work! I had decided to make the insides out of fimo air light and then roll out her coat like pastry to fold around her. I'm not sure if that's the done thing...
I also had to revise her 'innards' a few times in order to get her standing on her own. Much wire/plasticine intestines can be found if you look up her skirt!

A bit of modelling...

Gone plasticine crazy in the office it seems! My friend chose stop motion animation for his 11 second club entry last month and I've only gone and caught the plasticine bug :D Decided to model the little girl from previous posts.. here are some earlies...

A fimo air light skull...

some skin...

some boots!...

Recent artistic endeavours....Part II

I bought a drawing table at long last and have been attempting to paint ever since! Here is an example (including one based off've the sketch in the previous post)

These are photos not scans, so the colours are a tad washed :/ I used acrylic paints and I'm still learning!

Recent artistic endeavours....

Here is a page from my sketchbook. I liked this li'l character and so I decided to keep playing with it...

Some old bits of art...

These were some ideas for a commission for a deejaay friend of mine. The project then went in a different direction so these paintings are unused! I used Photoshop and Flash, Flash to create the outlines over an original pencil sketch in my sketchbook.
Clearly a bit influenced by Cheo... a reet good Bristol street artist. Also a bit Ghost in the Shelly :)

Some concepts I did for an independent games company I met through They were 'hand painted' in Photoshop :) I like the femme fatale the mostest! She was great fun to paint! Each took roughly a day to complete, possibly working late into the night - with cups of tea (the best time to work :P)

Some quick flash/photoshop doodles:

I will try and dig some more out! Got a few sketchykins floating about somewhere I should imagine :D
